Most people will recognize a skunk’s distinct black fur that contains two white stripes going down their back. This skunk variety is known as Mephitis mephitis and is the most common type of skunk found in Los Angeles. Spilogale putorius skunks are Mephitis mephitis’ smaller spotted counterparts that are less prevalent in Los Angeles.
